This was project was teaching 3-D design. We made this piece by cutting or ripping paper and making folds, swirls, circles or any design we could think of and gluing it outwards on a piece of paper. The teacher at first read "All the Places You Will Go" by Dr. Seuss for motivation and for us to see good example of 3-D looking pictures.
We were required to have 3 different folds and at least 8 piece of paper on our art. We were also told to name our place. I named mine Hil-Villie
A extension of this activity would be in English to have you students create a story about their artwork. They would think of their artwork as a town, since we had to name it, and write about why it was like that.
