Theses two projects were both inspired by Van Gogh's art, and style of art.
Project #1
- This project was to recreate movement that you see in Van Goghs paintings.
- This was done by using finger painting, to create that movement feel.
- Before this was done students were shown some of Van Gogh's art work, they then had the choice to recreate on of his pieces or create there own.
- There were a few requirements that went along with the project,
- The students had to create a sort of movement in with lines in there piece
- They have to create a foreground, middle ground and background to show dept in the picture
- This painting if from persons point of view of laying on the ground in a grassy area.
- First they see the flower up really close to them. Next they see the hill and birds in the middle and in back they see the night sky with the moon and stars.
- An extension activity off this would be to have you students do this again, only with crayons or oil pastels and create there house on a landscape instead of coming up with there own or recreating on of Van Goghs paintings.
Project #2
- This project to done to show movement again in a piece of art.
- The students were told to cut shapes out of tissue paper and glue them down to the paper.
- They then made a landscape out of tissue paper and glued it on top. We used silver Sharpe's and oil crayons to create movement around the tissue paper.
- This picture is of a city landscape. With he sun setting by the pink and orange, and and getting darker throughout the rest of the picture.
- An extension activity of this would be to have students tear the tissue paper instead of cutting it and create a abstract piece of art instead of a landscape. They could use different medias then Sharpe's and oil crayons. I would have them use water color in this extension activity.
